TAUW Centennial Torch Relay

The Tulsa Area United Way will hold a Torch Relay April 3-5, 2024 to celebrate our 100th birthday week. Up to ten rally points across TAUW’s six-county service area will feature some of our more than 70 nonprofit partners. The torch will be moved from place to place in a donated vehicle. At each rally point, there will be a short ceremony in which the assembled partners add a symbolic piece to the fabricated LED-lit torch. With each handoff, the torch passes a message of unity and reminds us that we’re all joining forces to address important community issues, together. The torch will return “home” to the TAUW offices on Friday, April 5.

Signup instructions:

Please sign up to participate in 1 torch ceremony. You may sign up for multiple locations, but please choose only 1 for your organization’s ceremony participation. Please be prepared to provide at least 1 representative from your organization. The representative can be a staff member, client, or volunteer. Important note: all start times are estimates. Traffic and other factors could cause delays. A TAUW representative in direct contact with the torch vehicle will be onsite 30 minutes before each start time at each site.

Representatives are asked to:

  • Wear a branded shirt or clothing representing your organization
  • Announce the organization’s name and make an optional (30-second) statement
  • Place a “flame” or other item provided by TAUW onto the torch base

Organizations will have the opportunity to:

  • Take group photos
  • Participate in short interviews with TAUW videographer (limited space available)
